White Spruce

Genus: The scientific name is Picea glauca.

Height: The white spruce can grow to 70 to 80 feet tall.

Soil: The types of soil are loam soil and claysoil.

Bark: The bark is smooth and scaly.

Leaves: The leaves are 12 to 20 mm long needles. The leaves are green and they do not change color in  the fall.

Fruit: The fruit is the pine cone.

Seed: The seeds are in the pine cones.

Wood: The wood is soft but strong and is used for building, paddles and oars.

Twigs: The twigs are sharp and skinny.

Interesting Facts: Blue beaded lillies and moosemaple are some of the things that live under the white spruce.
